Valkyrie sat in the dark red car and waited for her mother to come out of the building that was labeled 'Main Office'. She didn't feel like engaging in anything social at the moment, so she'd stayed out in the car.
This is going to be hell... she thought. Her hand reached up and brushed the electric green hair out of her eyes as she saw her mother come out of the building. Valkyrie opened the car door and stepped out, looking at her mom for an answer.
"Okay, honey, you're all signed in and they have all your information and medication. You can go to your cabin now," Her mother announced.
"Thanks, mom," Valkyrie said while trudging to the back of the car to gather her things. "Pop the trunk, please?"
A small 'clunk' approved that the trunk to the Dodge Dart was open. Valkyrie grabbed her big, navy blue suitcase, dark purple duffle-bag, and light pink pillow. She turned to her mother and walked towards her for a hug.
"I love you, Valkyrie. We'll miss you. Write lots of letters" Her mom said as they hugged.
"Okay Mom. I love you too. And I will." Valkyrie smiled at her mother as she left, then turned around.
The large area before her was literally shining green and it made a nice compliment to the blue sky with puffy white clouds above. Across the green was two cabins. To the left had been a large, brown building that she suspected had been the Mess Hall.
"I guess I'd better get there and get a good bed before they're gone." The green haired girl started her way across the giant, green patch of grass towards her cabin.
Valkyrie pulled her heavy luggage up the stairs to the cabin and stepped inside. The place was absolutely gorgeous and no one was here yet. Dragging her stuff over to the beds, she thought she'd take one of the top bunks because it would minimize the social contact with others.
What if I actually make some friends here? She thought. That'd be nice.
She put her bags on one of the shelves beside the bed and climbed up, then fell back onto the small mattress, her legs hanging off the side. She had all summer to get used to being with new people in a new place. This experience could either be good, or terribly bad.
