Doug sat shotgun, his head leaned back and eyes shut. Its was rather hot, and Doug felt his sweaty tee-shirt sticking to him uncomfortably. Its been four days... I can't believ-

“Lunch! Is served.” Doug heard the cheerful cry from her sister. He immediatly smiled and sat up, swinging his legs out of the car. Planting his feet firmly on the ground, he walked over to the back of the car where Clara put the food. He stood back next to her to let their younger siblings get the first pick from the meal. Looking over at Clara, he saw her nod towards the front of the car, gesturing she wanted to talk to him in private. Doug followed Clara until the were out of ear-shot of their siblings.

Doug wasn't suprised by what Clara was going to say. “She’s not coming back, Doug… we can’t just wait here for…forever… I can’t keep going to the mall. People are starting to ask questions. They’ve noticed we haven’t left.” He sighed. "I knew we couldn't stay here. The car isn't nearly enough for the four of us to live in." “We have to leave… I don’t have the keys, so we’ll have to go on foot. We’ll get the suitcase from the trunk and take turns carrying it… I don’t think the railroad is far from here. We’ll follow that as far as it’ll go, then… then we’ll follow the road the rest of the way. Easthaven can’t be that far.” Another deep sigh was let out from Doug's mouth. "You're right. We have no choice. I just hope Easthaven isn't too far." He glanced back at the car. "I'm suprised they haven't come to tow the car yet. Its having been in the lot for the past four days. I'm pretty sure people are starting to notice too." Taking a good long look around, he made sure that no one was coming for them or something. He felt like something bad could happen at any moment, and screw up everything.

Doug looked back at Clara. "Should we stay one more night or go today? I think we should get one more night iof sleep. We don't know when we might have some sort of shelter for ourselves." His tone was sullen. His eye were full of worry as he glanced over his shoulder looking at the younger ones.
