She scratched her head and thoughtfully bit her lip, then shook her head.

"You can't make fun of me," she said, looking at him to make sure he understood. When she felt reassured she gave a sigh and started.

"I guess it kind of started when I was young..my family sucked, not the normal kind of suck though, more like the no soap or food in the house kind of suck. I was really skinny and I guess dirty so people made fun of me. The called me nasty Ashley..no one wanted to be my friend, even the teachers judged me. One day one of the group home girls who went to my middle school told me about how she would steal her dads lighter and burn herself with it. I thought it was ridiculous, and doing it didn't even cross my mind..at least not until a few weeks later. A bunch of older kids decided it would be funny to dump soap water over my head at a school assembly. Everyone laughed and said that maybe I wouldn't smell so bad, and when I say everyone..it includes the teachers. That's when I started self harming. I went home that night and burnt the skin completely off of my left wrist. I'll show you the scar when I get these bandages off. It escalated from there until last month...I don't remember how it happened, but I woke up in the hospital. My wrists were bandage up, my stomach hurt like a bitch, I was handcuffed to the hospital bed and the nurses told me that I was being sent here," she shrugged
