"Didn't want you to anyway," Judas sneered.
Lauren elbowed him, "He meant that he'll be leading the way so he won't technically be standing beside anyone." she stated quickly, shooting Judas a glare. It was a glare that spoke volumes and he could read every word.
She was begging him not to make this difficult, laying her trust on the ground in front of him, pleading that he wouldn't make an ass of himself and put the rest of them in danger. His gaze assured her that he wouldn't, that she could trust him. He didn't place his trust in others but he was one who never went back on his word. He'd promised the deputy that he'd keep her safe. Unfortunately, now that Lauren turned out to be something akin to Mother Theresa that meant he had to keep this Tiffany chick safe too. He could tell by the way she looked at him, by the way she talked, that she didn't trust him. He couldn't care any less if he tried. He had an obligation. Whether she trusted him or not wasn't his problem.
"You two stay here. I'll go check and see if it's clear for us to move." He told them, giving Lauren one last stern look.
Lauren watched him go, falling back to stand beside Tiffany in somewhat of a comforting manner. She'd always been told that she could be easily read by the way she held herself, that her thoughts were reflected in the way she stood. She knew her confidence and overall faith in this man bearing an unfaithful name spoke more than words ever could.
