Mathius
Gardenian Hospital
On a Random Hospital Floor

The hospital had fallen into chaos. Mathius walked the halls in his new clothes [a black hoodie, blue button-up plaid shirt, blue jeans, and sneakers], leaving medical personnel frozen in his path. After seeing how many doctors and nurses were petrified in the corridor with shocked expressions, the other personnel resorted to hiding, huddling behind work desks and ducking into rooms, while Mathius tried to find his way out of the maze. Never had he been inside a structure so complicated. The tower had several winding hallways that all looked the same. The master of the tower was a clever man for inventing such a riddle, but Mathius was determined to escape.

"Don't move!" a man shouted, coming before the sorcerer in a black uniform and a strange object directed at him like a sword.

Mathius regarded the device curiously. It didn't have a blade or arrows.

"Put your hands up, and I mean really up!" the police officer ordered.

Who was this warrior? He was different than the nurses and doctors that surrounded him. The shiny badge on his chest made Mathius wonder if it was the relic that made him function. If so, then the level of magic that surrounded him was staggering. The Tower Master's magic was extraordinary. He couldn't even sense it.

Raising his hands high above his head, Mathius ordered, "You will take me to your master."

The cop cautiously approached him and replied facetiously, "You'll get to see him soon enough. You move, then I'll shoot."

The sorcerer didn't move any further as the cop came around his side to stand behind him. He holstered his gun and then grabbed the sorcerer's arms, drawing them behind his back as he got out his cuffs and locked them about his wrists. Mathius arched a brow at the feel of cold steel and when he tried to draw his hands apart, he met resistance.

"Shackles?" the sorcerer asked in confusion.

The link between the handcuffs suddenly snapped when Mathius effortlessly brought his hands before him to stare at the lustrous device. It had been too fancy to be the shackles he was imagining.

"Jesus," the cop gasped. There were only a few cases where a convict had the strength to break his cuffs, but he had never encountered such cases in his career until now. His hand went to his taser as he watched the man. He hadn't made any attempt to escape him. He had mostly just been saying crazy things. Master, shackles...he could possibly have a nut job on his hands. He gazed down the hall at the motionless medical staff...what the hell was going on here? Returning his attention to the criminal, Mathius's sharp, wolfish eyes turned over his shoulder to regard him.

"What's...What's going on here? Did you do that?" he asked pointing to the staff.

Mathius turned around to regard the still humans. "They got in my way."

He examined the cop's shocked expression. "Is not the magic of your lord just as powerful?"

"Magic? What..." the cop stared at Mathius as though he were crazy. He really did have a maniac on his hands, but the people...Laughing softly, the cop glanced around the hospital. "Ha, I get it now. This is all a joke."

The sorcerer frowned, losing interest in the golem. He started to walk back down the hall when the cop removed the taser and pointed it at his back. "Stop! Whether this is a joke or not, I can't let you go. Call out the camera crew, this prank has gone on long enough."

"What are you talking about?" a nurse exclaimed from one of the rooms. She had the door cracked and remained out of the sorcerer's view. "That man did all of this. He's dangerous! Stop him!"

The cop feeling pressured by the nurse's panicked screaming watched the criminal, his finger curling about the trigger. The taser released, firing down the hall to strike the sorcerer in the back of the neck. Mathius froze when he felt a sudden pinch at the skin just below his nape. His eyes widened in surprise, his left hand reaching for it until suddenly the volts followed. Every muscle in the sorcerer's body locked up and immediately he collapsed in a fit as electricity passed through his body. The staff that had been petrified were released from the spell, some collapsing while others sighing in relief. The cop glanced over his shoulder as the hospital became active again. People were coming out of hiding as the cop kept the sorcerer charged. He still hadn't a clue what had happened.
