"Nonsense milady!" Jefferson let out a laugh as he tugged her along the hallway to the cafeteria. The Keepers and kitchen staff were all cleaning up, a few stranglers still chowing down slowly on their meals. He paused and looked back at Devin with a wide grin, "Now, no getting all sad and depressed on me now. I need a bright and cheerful Devin if we are to enjoy tea-time together! Now come, let's see if my doctor is present"
Jefferson's favorite doctor tended to hang out in the kitchen when he wasn't seeing patients. Jefferson believed it was because the doc fancied one of the kitchen staff. But, it was helpful on those good days when the Hatter needed another cup of tea. He tugged Devin with him through the tables towards the door to the kitchen and rapped on the open frame. No one answered at first, just continued to hustle and bustle through the area.
"Doc?" Jefferson called into the kitchen, tilting his hat back to get a better look, "Doctor Fergusten?"
A man in his forties, with a nice head of hair and low hanging spectacles came around the corner with a cup of coffee in hand. He paused, gave Jefferson a 'what are you doing here' look, then let out a sigh, "So, are you here in search of some tea?" The man had a nice, cooling voice that Jefferson adored.
The Hatter nodded his head, pulling Devin into the door frame, "Me and this young lady here want to have a tea party! I was hoping you would be so kind as to help us out Doc..." Jefferson beamed at the Doctor, gripping Devin's hand tightly.
The Doctor looked between the two through his glasses, giving them a knowing look that totally flew right over Jefferson's head. Fergusten let out a sigh and nodded, "I'll go get you a pot brewing, you wait out here. This is a one time thing Jeff, don't expect to keep getting tea every time you bring a girl along"
The Doctor turned and walked off around the corner and Jefferson stood, grinning and gripping Devin's hand happily. They were actually getting a tea party! He hadn't had one since....well since Wonderland!
