Jefferson looked at her with a blank expression, deciphering what she meant by 'puppets'. It was true that he was aware of some of her problems, just through the grape-vine, but in all honesty he did not know truly what was 'ailing' Devin. To him she was just a normal girl with a very interesting personality, nothing that deserved to be thrown into this place for.
But puppets?
In Wonderland, puppets were living beings that lived in tiny little wooden homes in the forest. They had their own villages, religions, and political systems. They rode on wild rocking horses, sometimes even flew on the flying ones. Hatter did not pay much attention to them, as they were a bit stiff for him, but Alice had spent a little bit of time with a puppet from a village near the tea shop. But Devin's puppets....they seemed different then the ones in Wonderland. More sincerity and warped...
"Im glad I am with you too Devin" He said in a hushed, worried tone, flicking his eyes between hers. Just as he said that, Doctor Fergusten and a female kitchen staff member came around the corner with a tray, drawing his attention away from Devin. Jefferson grinned at the sight of two teacups, a cup of sugar and cream, and a boiling teapot. The Doctor took the tray and handed it to Jefferson, giving him a look as he did so.
"Stay in the kitchen and don't do anything you shouldn't be. I'm only doing this because you cooperated so well this morning Jefferson" Doctor Fergusten explained. Jefferson nodded, releasing Devin's hand to hold the tray with both.
"Gotcha' Doc, I'll be good dontcha' worry" He let out a laugh, tipped his hat at Fergusten, and ushered Devin over to a table near by. He set the platter down and sat a cup in front of her and himself, then began pouring the tea expertly.
"How do you take it?" Jefferson asked as he plopped a few spoons full of sugar in his cup, stirring it while smiling at Devin happily.
