Mallory was sneaking around, sticking to the alleys and dark streets of Lower Manhattan. She was tired of all the sneaking around, but since she lost her brothers, she'd been attacked more than once and a lot had happened to the 23 year old in a few short years. She was no longer the quiet, reserved book worm she used to be. Mallory no longer looked like a small, weak girl, though she could still play the role fairly well. She no longer detested Wang (that's what she had called her step father) for making her learn how to use the katanas or for the defense classes he'd made her take.

No, the girl now thought of Wang as the father he truly was to her, and she missed him. She missed the way he'd worry about her, and how he'd taught her Japanese and all about the culture...Mallory missed all her family, including the family she hadn't been close to. Mallory sighed, leaning against a wall that she assumed was part of an apartment building. She'd been traveling all day, actually for three days, without sleeping or eating much.

Mallory knew she needed to get somewhere safe, find someone she might be able to trust, get with a crew or something. The young lady had a lot to offer. She knew most first aide, including setting broken bones and doing stitches, and she was skilled with her swords. Sure, she didn't like confrontation, but she did like that she could help someone out if they allowed her in.

Mallory had heard someone moving around in the street, and just as she took a step toward the noise, a door closed. Shit... she thought to herself as she saw things start to move about in the shadows. Great, just what I wanted. A nice fight in a dark alley in Manhattan! Mallory sighed and drew her katanas, turning toward the shadows.

Standing there, in the dark, was a little kid. "Scram, brat! Don't you know it's dangerous?" When the kid didn't move, Mallory lunged toward him with her blades. The kid screamed and took off, giving Mallory the chance to slip into the door of the apartment building before who ever he worked for showed up.

Mallory shut the door quietly, finding the first empty room that wasn't filthy and collapsed on the abandoned couch. She didn't even care if someone found her right now, she was to exhausted to care. Her last thought before her eyes closed was that she really should have shut the door to the apartment she had chosen to stay in.
