"How do I know that?" Alice responded sharply, turning in her seat. Were people out to get her for her power? Was she going to have to sacrifice something? Her father had so often told her to be careful, but she didn't know of what. She was like a deer, still and poised, ready to bolt at any moment. But she was afraid if she moved, she would cause some sort of trouble.

Then again, she needed help. Desperate help on how to control her power. It could go off like last night at any minute, but who would she ask? She was nowhere near home or someone who would understand, or so she had thought.
