Tom watched the girls leave awkwardly. He didn't really want to be left alone with Orion, although he didn't know why. Maybe he was just awkward in general, although Tom couldn't help thinking that something had changed about him, but he couldn't put his finger on it. Obviously his appearance had changed. Tom stopped himself. It wouldn't do to start thinking negatively about potentially the only person between him and whatever creatures might decide they wanted human for lunch. He still glanced at his makeshift sword occasionally.
Andromeda and Corki passed out of sight, and he turned to Orion, at a loss for words, but feeling the need to say something to break the silence.
"So, uh... you sleep well?" he asked, wondering why he was so wary of someone he had been good friends with not two days ago. He thought back to the younger Orion he'd known in the Trail of Trials, imagining him in front of him. He could still see hints of that confident smile in the old man's face, although the cheer was long gone.
"See anything interesting on your watch? I thought I saw a bird with four wings at one point. I hope I get another look, it'd be fascinating to study close-up."

Some time passed, and Tom looked in the direction that the girls went. "Do you think they've got lost? It's nearly been about two hours..."
