Marqun is here. I know this even though he's still in the water. I would recognize him any where. My heart does a skip. "No" I scold myself, "There will be none of that." I quickly clean of the table and sit down with an open book. Though I'm staring at the words, I'm not reading them. I wait for what seems like forever. Finally Marqun knocks. I wait at least 15 minutes after he knocks. Or at least it feels that way. In reality it is probably 3 seconds. I force myself to walk and open the door. When I see Marqun I feign surprise. I say "Marqun? Come in." He nods and follows me. He sits down at the table and I put away my book. "This is unexpected surprise. What are you doing here?" I try to ask calmly but it rushes out in a flood.
"I came to verify details with you. You rushed out before I could say anymore." replies Marqun as he leans back in his chair. So that's all. I feel my heart sinking, but mentally shake myself. I admit that I'm gaga for him to, but unlike other girls, I don't show it. He is leader of a gang. He won't bother with me. I smile and nod. "Of course." I say, "I'm sorry for running out, but I was a tad shocked. I'm sure you can understand." Marqun nods and says "Yes, that makes sense. So, you'll need to meet with Michael and I at the shrine before the sun rises. We have a long journey. You don't need to wear it at first, but bring a dress. You'll need to look nice for the affair." He smirks a little when he says this and then grins when he sees my face.
"A dress?" I ask, "You can't be serious."
"Oh, but I am" He replies.
"Fine" I say sullenly. "I'll look nice. But just this once." Marqun smirks again and I punch him in the shoulder. I've known him since I was little. Hence why to Marqun, I'm like a sister. He winces, but I think it's just to be nice. I didn't punch him very hard. Then we both erupt into laughter. Everything is going fine until Janala comes out. I had forgotten that she was here and she was taking a shower. She is wearing a bathrobe and comes out saying " Aca? Where is your brush?" She stops and stars at Marqun and me with her mouth open in an o. Then she blushes and covers her chest. I look at Marqun and realize he's staring at Janala. So, my best friend is very attractive to him, isn't she? I feel anger rising up in my chest, but I fight it down. I try to smile at Marqun but I'm afraid it comes out as more of a scowl. "Maybe you should go Marqun." I say quickly.
"But!" He responds finally looking at me.
"I know, 2 days, before DAWN. See you then" I shove him out the door and shut it in his face. I turn back to Janala, and say "Lets find that brush." But she sees my expression and hugs me. "I don't think he was staring like that Aca." I shake my head and begin to cry.
