Lena scrambled back in alarm as the enraged Mila rounded on her, quite immediately going on the defensive.
"I...I'm sorry!" she cried.
"I wasn't aiming at you! Really! I...I was aiming at the coyote!"

She was fully expecting to get punched, and was not entirely certain she didn't have that coming, when Tyler leapt between them and she took the opportunity to scamper off.

She sat down, taking a few sips of the water, casting a couple of glances in the direction ofthe argument taking place. She decided it was probably better to keep her mouth shut considering. After sitting there for a couple of minutes, her alarm had been replaced with first disbelief.
"...I was aiming at the coyote?"
Then amusement.
"...I was aiming at the coyote."

By the time Tyler walked back over she was feeling sort of sane again.
"Uh...sorry about that." she muttered.
"I guess I'm not really running at a hundred percent yet. I seriously didn't mean anything."

She felt guilty about it, but then there was not a great deal she could do now. The Mila woman was pretty pissed and there did not seem to be much she could say that would change it....not for a while at any rate. She just had to concentrate on not doing anything overtly unstable for some time.

As a consequence, she stayed pretty silent on the trip out. The first sound was a short giggle as Tyler hopped off before her. She slid off behind, starting to follow and listening to what was being said. She was also watching. Hypervigilance was something she had to live by, life spent trying to remain out of trouble. She had learned to pick up on signs that she was near Them. Some small, subtle indications that could save you. Those worked as far as further proximity, told her what roads not to walk...but it was her power that generally warned her of imminent attack.

She was distracted by watching out, to the degree that it took her a little while to realize a question had been addressed to her.

"Lived further north." she replied.
"Mom was never really a fan of the hot weather. I moved down after...all the stuff happened. First winter after the attack was so bad I decided I didn't want to have to try and get through another like it. I know the sun is kinda lethal here...but at least with that you can get some shade. When you've got freezing temperatures...you don't get away from it. I had a pretty close call. So I ended up making my way down as the time passed, kept to the minor roads."
