The plane landed with a few bumps and Melanie was ready for settling down in the small motel with a hot cup of tea and a peaceful nap before actually heading out to do any investigating into her brother's disappearance. The airport was quite busy, regardless of it being late October, however, the only luggage Melanie brought with her was hand luggage and she didn't have to battle anyone to get to the luggage carousel for her luggage and just head to the exit, security were surprisingly lenient with her which from what she'd heard about American airports and border control, was completely out of character for them.
Melanie managed to hail a taxi outside the airport and made her way to the nearest train station. Standing in the chill autumn air caused Melanie to shiver slightly as she waited for her train to arrive and take her to her destination, Lawrence.
'A simple, small town, nothing to get excited about if you were a tourist, but when your brother gets kidnapped by a Vampire coven, and one so happens to settle in an unheard of town, you're gonna get a bit interested.' Melanie thought to herself, as if she was explaining to someone why a 'simple tourist' was going to Lawrence. A sigh of relief escaped her lips as the train arrived and Melanie was able to take shelter from the late october chill.
The train ride was definitely long, Lawrence was the most convenient place to get to. Melanie was exhausted by the flight and now the train was starting to tax on her, but she managed to keep her eyes open as the train progressed in its long journey. The announcement for Lawrence came at long last and Melanie let out a slight yawn and rubbed her eyes, as she pushed herself from the comfortable chair and grabbed her bag from the over head rack.
The train slowly stopped and the doors finally opened, Melanie hopped off the train, she looked to see if anyone else was getting off and to her surprise a few people did, she wasn't the last person on the train after all. Looking down at her watch, she sighed as it wasn't even late and all she wanted to do was go to bed, but she shook her head, the motel could wait.
Melanie made her way to the front of the train station and she stopped one of the other passengers, "Could you tell me where the nearest bar is, s'il vous plaît?" Melanie asked, her accent heavy and the other passenger nodded before giving her directions. Following the directions, Melanie finally made it to a bar and entered the establishment, taking a seat at the nearest empty table, a lot of the patrons turned to look at her, it unnerved her but she shook it off.
'It's a small town, I'm sure a strangers face is a rare occasion.' Melanie reassured herself, smiling up at the waitress who came up to her.
"Hey, what can I get you?" She asked, her voice bubbly and excited.
"Just a red wine, merci." The girl nodded and went back to the bar, hitting a few of the patrons with her notepad and telling them not to stare.
