"Get her!"

Charlotte stumbled as she tried to get away from the four girls pursuing her. "No! Get away from me!" she screamed, but to no avail. The four caught up with her, and one grabbed her by the hair and yanked her to the ground. "Why you running away, little bitch? Running away to your sweet little daddy? Huh?" one taunted cruelly, followed by a swift kick to the side. "Yeah, you little pedo perv! You don't belong here! You don't even deserve to live!" declared another.

No matter how much she cried, the kicking, slapping, and punching just wouldn't stop. It only seemed to encourage them.
"Bitch!" *kick*
"Pervert!" *kick*
"Stupid!" *punch*
"Pedo!" *slap*
"Stop!" Charlotte wimpered.
"Ugly!" *kick*
"Fat!" *slap*

Suddenly, the pain stopped when a concerned stranger appeared on the sidewalk. Once he drove off the abusive girls, he knelt beside Charlotte and looked her over. "You okay, little lady?" She tried to sit up, and immediately clutched her stomach. If he knew, he'd be beating up on me, too. She nodded, struggled to her feet, and stumbled her way on towards the academy, where she was headed before she'd been waylaid.

A fantastic way to start off the semester, she thought ruefully. Does it never end?

She stepped into the Great Hall and did her best to wipe away the tears. The pain in her side hadn't subsided, but she did her best to pretend like it wasn't there, wanting to make a good first impression. She glanced around the room, taking in the elaborate decorations while keeping an eye out for an authority figure to tell her how to begin.

Wait, she didn't want any stinking authority figures. She could manage quite well-enough on her own! That is, if she could find the reception desk...
