He slid the journal over to open it to get a look at the faded and yellowed pages.

"He's a stubborn one though. I told him I would help them as far as crossing the mountains, but after that they're on their own. Apparently they're trying to scrape up some old native from G'ael to play guide. That werewolf hermit," he remarked.

He couldn't say he approved too much of their choice in traveling companions with that one, but there were a lot of unpleasant rumors by the locals surrounding Maria. It was hard to say what was or wasn't true, but when you have a werewolf living in your back yard, it made for a convenient scapegoat.

"He's got enough people to pull it off, and to take a few extras if the Vaennord has any interest in getting a chance to personally study the region."
