Mel had signed up to work the latest shift at Teraton's only decent night club, where she is employed as a bartender, because she's grown up going to every single Summer Solstice Festival since she could exchange a tail for legs, and doesn't intend to break that favorite tradition now. It's less of an issue with nostalgia and more a case of loving the experience of it all. The bands, the people, the shops- everything is right up her alley, as far as a festival goes. If only there were more dancing. Then again, there is dancing, depending on the band playing, or in the nightclub. She's certain to stop by there before her shift begins. Mel smells faintly of sea breeze, as she always does, and her hair is still damp from having just showered away the salt and sweat of spending the daylight hours surfing and playing basketball, two of her favorite pastimes. Luckily, it doesn't matter if her hair is wet, because the weather is warm, summer definitely taking over where spring had once reigned. She loves it.

I want to go on the ferris wheel, the selkie woman muses, craning her neck backwards slightly to look at it. Honestly, it isn't particularly large, or else it wouldn't have been able to fit in the park that is a center piece to the town, but it does look fun- perhaps a bit slow, though.

Being an ultimately social creature, the woman decides to first find other people to hang out with before doing anything else. She remains on the look out for the usual suspects: Belinda, Jae, CJ, Skye, or Derrick. Anyone will do, really, which is often the general opinion of Mel, who has very few, if any, deep bonds with her fellow townspeople- even the ones she's known since youth. I'll check out the magic shops- Jae or CJ are bound to be around, Mel decides, making her way outside the shadow of the ferris wheel. She passes by the musical stage, where a band which is slightly more folksy than she likes is playing a song that sounds almost celtic. The band is comprised of exclusively Fae.

"You haven't seen Jae or CJ around, have you?" Mel stops and asks an older looking witch, who sells medicinal herbs and healing enchantments. The response is brief and vague, completely unhelpful. In the end, she is forced to resort to texting people, despite generally preferring to just arrive places without notice. Mel isn't one for planning- or, therefore, punctuality.

To: CJ, Belinda, Jae, Derrick, Skye, Chris
Anyone else looking for company?

Mel decides that if she's going to just allow herself to happen upon people, or wait for responses, she might as well do so while listening to music. So she wanders until happening upon something more her stile- a corner with a DJ playing dance music, and several people dancing around to it, and joins in with the movement. It's her natural habitat, after all.

Jem's family is well known for their potions, and thus it is only natural that he be helping out at the family potion stand, where the Whelks are selling panaceas, liquid happiness [without the side effects of most drugs], bottled luck [selling out quickly for some of those carnival-style games], and other such things. Several of the concoctions were brewed by Jem himself, as he is quickly gaining on his parents as far as inventing new sorts of potions go, despite his lack of experience and crystallized knowledge to rival theirs. He can here bands playing in the distance, and a dimpled smile reveals itself every time a customers tops by to purchase something- especially when it is one of his own creations. Typically somewhat insecure, his potions are one thing that Jem is able to put a vote of confidence in with.

He wonders where CJ is, but supposes that the other male witch, and his closest friend since grade school, is working at the Shantley family restaurant. Jae, both a friend and someone for him to occasionally avoid, will probably be found there as well, unless she's selling her own services or wares. Jem doubts that she is, actually. Curses are the girl's specialty, after all, but they were banned from being sold, unless fitting within specific guidelines, by the city council a few years ago after a very, very nasty incident. If one thinks that bullying is bad in human schools, they would shudder to see how far it can go in a school composed of adolescents with supernatural abilities and still forming senses of reasoning and restraint.

"You can go and look for your friends now, Jem. We're all set here," Mathilde, Jem's mother and the person he inherited his distinctive dimples and blonde curls from, tells him with a smile. Her voice is somewhat soft, but holds a certain power to it that leaves no room for doubt that she is incredibly competent in what she does. She is a well-respected woman in the town for a reason, after all.

"Thanks mum," Jem responds with a dimpled smile. "I think I'll go see if CJ's at the restaurant."

He takes off the apron-esque cloth he had been wearing [to avoid spilling potions on himself], and places it down on a chair neatly folded before heading off into the crowd. He walks quickly, not liking to be alone in a large group of people like this for too long. It makes him feel impossibly lost and miniscule, despite being slightly above average in height, and knowing the layout of the town like the back of his hand.

The walk to the Shantley family restaurant is brief. Jem pops his head in and sees Alexander, CJ's brother, walking by. "Is CJ around?"
