With a powerful swing, the axe was brought down to the wood and cut the log in half before embedding itself in the tree stump below it. Grant threw the firewood into a pile next to his house, before continuing with the chore. He lived alone on the outskirts of the forest, although it was a house that once belonged to his parents. When they decided to move to Psi a few years ago, he was left to tend the family home. He lived a mostly self-sustainable life there - the land surrounding his home and the forest gave him most of what he needed. However, sometimes he had to venture into town. Things like spices, clothes or medicine he couldn't make himself.
It was about the right time for him to go into town again. He had herbs and plants that he knew the apothecary would buy. And he did need to pick up a few things as well, he was running low on some spices and the pain killing medicine.
Grant took a swing with the axe for the last time, before wiping away the sweat from his forehead. It was fairly early still, so he had time for the trip that day still. He went into his house to pick up the things he needed, before setting off for the hour-long walk to town.
