The water was fast enough, and deep enough that it could carry Alex's body without his aid. But there was a sense of a goal to make him propel himself faster towards the river's mouth. He would stick to the stream's bottom to keep the top of the water from being disturbed if he could help it. The closer he got towards the ocean however, the more the sandy walls encroached on his space until he ran out of room to comfortably move. It looked as though the sand that he kicked up further upstream decided to deposit itself further down instead of completely clearing out into the ocean. Like a water mole he used his clawed fins for arms to rake the sand to the sides and stir it up enough to let the current carry it further down the stream. It caused the waters surrounding the mouth of the outlet to cloud up with white silty sand. He didn't care. If it drew attention he would just deal with it when the time came.
