Bodies dropped left and right, most of them belonging to the Yakuza, as they exchanged fire with their assailants. Over time the gunfire slowed, shots going off everyone once in awhile from the Yakuza who remained standing or who had found some suitable cover.

Jackson didn't see it yet, but he had lost this day. He was too blinded by his rage, a rage only strengthened when his weapon was destroyed. He quickly flung the useless revolver aside, not sure if it would explode again. Gunpowder could be dangerous and Jackson liked his fingers.

When their weapons were also rendered useless Jackson's three cohorts decided it best to leave while they had the chance. Mauricio grabbed hold of Luis, the two men following Shiro out into the hall. Shiro grabbed Nathan's pistol, they needed some sort of protection if more of the Russians were in the building.

"Let's get to Suki before you bleed out." Luis said to Mauricio.

"I'm not leaving without the American." Jackson said, standing his ground. "I won't let you or the law stop me." He continued, "I will kill him. Now or later."

It might have been now or never. Sirens were already approaching the scene, it wouldn't be long until the police were involved in the fighting and a few people went away in cuffs.

Jackson was hoping for Bachmann to leave in a bodybag.

Bachmann was going to instead leave in need of a cast. The hitman pulled himself up from the floor, out of fear and desperation he charged the nearest window in the room. He fired off a few shots to weaken the glass before he jumped through.

The hitman founded himself slamming into a ladder. There was another fire escape. He knew he was in the good part of town. His old apartment in New York had one and it fell apart when there was a fire. Bachmann began his descent down to relative safety.

Van Leugen was a dangerous place and Bachmann probably raised his odds of dying substantially by exposing himself to the city.
