"I'm Anneliese. This is my home. You and the man upstairs are the intruders." Johnny began to protest. He was not an intruder, neither was Landon. They had bought this house, they were the owners of this house, whatever this woman thought. Before he could verbalise his thoughts, the woman, Anneliese began talking again, "Regardless, I can't allow anything to happen to you. I couldn't forgive myself."

Johnny felt Anneliese's icy cold hand on his arm, and his eyes widened. Either she was massively under oxygenated and needed to see a doctor immediately or she was a ghost. Given what Landon had told him about the house being haunted and all that, Johnny was oddly inclined to believe the latter. Landon was going to think he was insane. 'Oh hey Landon, guess what happened last night? I met a ghost!' Yes, that conversation would go down well. "Please..you don't want to end up like me." Anneliese said.

Something clicked in Johnny. She was afraid of something that was going to happen. Sensing her fear, Johnny let Anneliese lead him through the house and into what would soon be his bedroom. Anneliese pulled him into the closet. He could sense her moving although he couldn't really hear her. He pulled the doors closed, checking they were secure. He heard Landon calling him and was tempted to go to him, but then he would have to explain what he was doing hiding in a closet like a five year old child.

"Be quiet." Anneliese said softly. "My sister is out there. She's looking after him."

"It's ok," Johnny replied, "I wasn't planning on jumping out at him anyway."

The two returned to silence as a permeating sense of dread descended over the house. Johnny could hear Anneliese crying quietly next to him. He wanted to comfort her, but fear kept him paralysed. Any movement might give them away to whatever was out there. He might not have been an expert in the supernatural but Johnny knew enough to know that whatever was creating this fear was not of this world. He let his eyes drift down to Anneliese. There was something darker at play here than a tragic tale of two sisters. Something altogether much darker.
