Esmeralda woke up later then she typically ever did, but last night was a rough one though. Two Bachelor parties got into a bidding war, a fight broke out, all in all it was an average Wednesday too bad it was Friday. "Thank God of the Weekend!" she thought, hearing Boone in the other room strumming his guitar and singing her name a few times. She smiled, it was so cool having a boyfriend who could sing like that he was so talented.
"When the years have all come and gone
they'll find beneath the ground
our two bodies joined as one
showing how we were bound
how much Quasimodo once loved
Esmeralda the gypsy girl
She smiled, as she pulled the sheets away from her and started dressing in a red tank top, and jeans. She knew the song well, it was from Notre Damn De Paris. Boone always liked Victor Hugo's work when she found the few songs on YouTube of the musical adaptation from the 90's he started singing the songs around the house. Normally they are happy songs, as happy as they ever get but this? this was Quasimodo's death.
Looking at herself she asked herself: Why was he singing about death?, and started walking out of the room. Maybe she was being oblivious or is just a little self centered, but she didn't notice Boone's clothes and things had been removed from the room. It wasn't much he always traveled light but still the cowboy hat on the bed rail, the workmen boots next to the bed, missing and she hadn't noticed. She walked down the hallway of their two bedroom ranch, his voice growing louder only making her more and more scared of what she will see at the end of the hallway.
"how he was marked by god above
just to help him bear his cross
just to hep him bear his cross"
She herd him almost crying, like the music was part of his soul and just singing it caused him pain. She walked into the kitchen , though the dinning into the living room without seeing his face anywhere. She noticed her iPod in the speaker system, and realized it was a recording. He made made her a mix tape, it must have been playing for hours wail she was sleeping. He was so sweet! she thought, as the music continued:
"Dance my Esmeralda
sing my Esmeralda
dance just one more time for me
you know i'll die for love of you"

She sat on the sofa, listening to his voice sooth her soul or what ever soul she had. After awhile she noticed a paper sitting on the table and carefully picked it up. She read it tears pouring from her face, Boone was gone this was his goodbye to her. He doesn't know why or how he could have stayed as long as he did but now he had to leave. The strong feeling in his gut telling him to move on, his curse to bare, and it broke Esmeralda's heart.
The song ended: and she read the last part of the letter "Dance my little bird, fly and be free and never let your dreams fade."
