"Mr. Wicker?" as soon as the voice reached his ears, a chill traveled throughout his whole body.
"No...No...I saw the gravestone. It can't be..." he thought to himself, but it was. He knew deep down that this was the same woman he had loved in secret all those years ago. The same woman he betrayed one of his best friend's trust for and the same woman whose grave site he had visited centuries ago after having left his life in shame.
There were so many thoughts and feelings speeding through his head all at once. Part of him wanted to pack up everything and leave Bluffington while another part wanted to hold onto her and never let go. But Adam knew better then to act on pure emotion, especially in a situation this important. So, he did his best to compose himself, dusting off his vest and tie. He swiftly put his hand into his front pant's pocket and pulled out two business cards, each holding his title and name as well as his current address and phone number.
"Um, I just realized I left some important work at home. We should talk the craft sometime, Kris. Here's my card." Adam said as he placed the first card on the butcher's counter, then turned towards Ms. Magdelena and handed her the second.
"And so we can talk at a more appropriate time, Ms... Magdalena." he whispered, unable or unwilling to look her in the eye as he left the butcher's shop and side stepped the crowd outside, intent on leaving the area as he continued down the street in an attempt to clear his head.
