He ran a hand through his hair before rubbing his slightly stubbled chin with the tips of his fingers. "Being given the chance to know you - don't you think that's a beautiful thing?" He seemed to get lost in thought, his eyes distant and his jaw relaxed.
Pendley jumped at the sound of Annabelle's voice and whipped around, her hands flying to cover up what she hadn't yet concealed. "I'm fine," she said quietly yet sharply. "Really." Turning from her, she pulled her hair down to cover her neck, flushing lightly.
