Kade almost spewed his gulp of coke at the sight of Carter's face when Pendley walked back into the room. The boy was surprisingly innocent, especially for his age. Kade almost felt a sense of protection for the boy, hoping for him to succeed in his chase for love. His attention was drawn away, however, as Annabelle sat snuggly up against him. It was his turn to blush, his cheeks filling with color. "Feeling better?" he asked, producing a false cough in order to cover his cheeks as the color dissipated.

"Hi," Pendley said shortly, her cheeks pink. Noticing how Annabelle sat so close to Kade, she decided to follow suit, though she still placed a few inches between her and Carter.
