Although, he wished that somebody would handle his daughter, she was very adept at reminding him that she was an independent woman, and not like the frilly princesses in the history books. "With your knowledge of other kingdoms and her quite extensive knowledge of Maree, you two will make a nice pair in showing what's best for both sides of the alliance," the King said.

"If you would like, I'm sure the princess would love to give you a tour of the castle and village later, give you a chance to spend some time together, eh?" King Gregory asked. He was depending on this marriage so that his daughter and his people would finally be safe, and he was determined to do anything to make it happen.

"Oh tremendously so, my lady. I fear when I was first learning to ride, the horse was riding me and not the other way round as is proper!" Amelie smiled in fake understanding at Lorraine's comment, and walked over to the window to stare out fondly at the pastures. "And yourself, Princess Amelie? Is riding your pleasure or do you pass your time with other follies?" Amelie looked to Lorraine and nodded.

"Oh, I go riding from time to time. Mainly I've been preparing for your arrival," Amelie says. It wasn't a complete lie, just a smudge of the truth. In fact, one of the castle guards had had to come and drag her back to the castle just in time for the arrival after she had been out in the village chatting with the commoners for the morning. She loved their stories, they were much more interesting and humble than the nobilities.
