Shiloh sighed in peaceful bliss as a breeze blew past her, cooling her warm skin. Of course no one would complain about working up a slight sweat cause once you get to where she was the view was just breathtaking. Shiloh had woken up early today to go for a hike up the mountain. The trek up was rocky and with the early morning dew still resting on the rocks Shiloh had slipped a few times, producing cuts and bruises. She didn't mind though she was use to it.
It had taken her three hours to get to her special spot on the mountain and even though she had made the journey over a dozen times in her life she was still taken away from the seer beauty nature portrayed for her from this spot. The sun was 45 degrees from the sunrise and the light shone down on the crystal blue lake. The glistening green leaves of the forest danced with the light breeze and the soft sound they made as the rustled together. They were every few clouds left in the sky and all in all it all looked perfect. She unzipped her backpack and produced a water bottle, a bag of homemade triple chocolate cookies and a book. She got comfortable on the small patch of grass and flipped the book open.
Shiloh stayed there for a good few hours until she decided to head back, her breakfast deprived stomach rumbling in agreement. She packed up all her things then started back down the mountain.
"Gran I'm back" Shiloh said as she walked through the front door of her grandmother's old farm house. She was instantly assaulted by the two small furry bodies of her puppies Snapple and Casper, whom were pawing at her legs and furiously wagging their tails as they yipped at her for attention.
"Hello my babies" she cooed as she knelt down to pet them.
"How was your hike dear?" a soft raspy voiced questioned from above Shiloh and she looked up at her grandmother. The sweet kind old woman was smiling brightly, her light blue eyes dancing with excitement and glee. Shiloh raised her eyebrow in a show of confusion. Her grandmother just giggled lightly and took out what she was hiding behind her back. It was what Shiloh expected as her amethyst eyes landed on the small and elegant red envelope.
"Its for you Shy" her grandmother said happily and Shiloh stood and took the letter. She had mail? Why? She's never had mail....
"Thanks Gran I'm gonna go shower then I'll read it" Shiloh stated smiling as she walked past her grandmother and up the stairs to her room. She closed her bedroom door behind her and took a seat on her bed. Flipping it over she noted the fancy wax seal keeping the letter closed then took her pocket knife out of her sweat pants and cut the letter open. She read over the elegant script and she was shocked. Who knew? How? Were they at the graveyard when....no! no one would just suspect her instantly, just cause she looked different....
She took in a deep breath and placed the letter down on the bed and left her room going into the bathroom. She took a nice cool shower and got ready for the day. She then went back into her room and chose a pair of white wash jeans and camo t-shirt. She braided her silvery white hair then threw on a Browning's camo hat. Her eyes then strayed back to the letter and she left something pull inside her. The undeniable feeling that she had to attend the school rather she wanted to or not over took her. So with that thought in mind she started to pack her duffle bag. She then went to her grandmother office and phoned the airport. Since not many people came or left her small town in the Yukon it wasn't hard to get a flight and since one of the only pilot's around was best friends with her grandma it was easy for Shiloh to get a flight. Once everything was planned out Shiloh went down stairs. She felt bad, she didn't want to leave her grandma alone but she had to. She had to leave the comfort of her home. Atleast that's what she felt like she needed to do.
"Gran?" Shiloh called.
"In here darling" her grandmother called from the kitchen and Shiloh joined her. Her grandmother's smile turned into a frown once she saw Shiloh's bags.
"Going somewhere dear?" she asked.
"Umm...you know that letter well it was an invite to a school, its all free but I have to leave today" Shiloh stated matter of factly. Her gran didn't need to know what kind of school it is.
"Are you sure its really dear?" her gran asked.
"Yes gran its real, I looked it up on the computer, the letter is legit" Shiloh gave her a reassuring. She wasn't a very good liar. But it seemed to work as her gran nodded and agreed.
She had said her goodbyes and she now in seated in the small two manned plane that belonged to family friend Jimmy Anderson.
"You ready to fly little miss" Jim asked and Shiloh gave him a thumbs up. Jimmy nodded then prepared for flight. It took a few minutes but they were now up in the air. It took a long time, even longer since they had to stop to refill a few times. But once they landed in Japan Shiloh's stomach started to fill uncomfortably as she said thanks and goodbye to Jimmy before getting out and walking to her next destination.
