When he kissed my cheek, I responded with an involuntary sharp and quick intake of breath. It was like there was a fire burning where his lips had touched my skin, and for a moment, I couldn't do anything besides just stand there. When I heard the door click click shut behind me, my legs seemed to give out and I sunk to the floor.

"What the hell just happened?" My heart was beating way too fast right now, even by werewolf standards and I could hear the blood pounding in my ears. I swore I wouldn't make anymore attachments to anyone or anything. I can't have a mate! I rally needed to get out of this place. Now.

....But I can't. Not for two months... And I'm pretty sure they'll know if I try to run away on the first night. Then I would be in deep, deep trouble....

I tried to calm my rapid heartbeat by taking controlled deep breaths in and out. Calm down. I need to calm down. I could feel a small longing to go to my mate in the back of my mind... but no.
