Snippet #2535512

located in Culprit City, a part of Culprit City, one of the many universes on RPG.

Culprit City

This shoddy set for the show is constructed mainly of scavenged materials from cities which had already suffered the weather's wrath. Patchwork skyscrapers litter the horizon, whilst the smaller buildings lay in their shadows, dilapidated and mismatched.

Lorelei pulled her jacket from her rucksack and shrugged it on, making sure her armband was visible. She wasn't sure what the punishment for breaking the rules was, but she was sure it wasn't going to be nice. She wasn't altogether sure why it mattered what she was wearing. It wasn't her clothes that made her a target; it was the goddamned armband she had to wear. She could strut around dressed up as peacock and it wouldn't make her anymore or any less of a target. The armband was the target, a flashing sign that said 'I'm a bad person, kill me now'.

She followed the pair who seemed to have some kind of plan, although Lorelei was sure the blonde woman was calling the shots. She didn't know their names and wasn't really that bothered about finding out. They didn't exactly strike her as the buddying up type, so there wasn't going to be much personal chit-chat. One thing that was clear was that she was a extra in this plan, a burden if you will. She didn't let that bother her. Lorelei was used to people not thinking much of her. At this moment in time, she didn't rate her own chances too highly either. They gathered what they needed and headed for the south entrance, the one Lorelei had come through in the first place.

"We run for the store across the street, we'll move through it and out the back, then onto the next. We repeat that with the next, then across to the restaurants. From there, we'll go through the alleyways between the apartments and cross to the office buildings. Clear on the plan? Good, because I won't be stopping to go over it again."

Checking that the coast was clear, Lorelei followed Anya across the street to the gardening center. Lorelei shadowed as Anya gathered whatever it was they needed, knife in her hand, prepared for an attack if one came. Anya moved with purpose, Lorelei noticed. That was a good trait to have. Lorelei had never been much of a leader. She did what she had to do, usually working alone. They made their way through the stores, Anya picking up anything that she needed, before making the dash across to the restaurants. Lorelei remembered the gunshots that had echoed around the street not so long ago. The bodies were still there. Lorelei numbly wondered if they would get taken away before the start of the next day, or just be left to the elements.

They entered the restaurant and Lorelei heard a steady dripping noise. She looked to the source of the noise and saw a hole had been burnt into the wall. What she could only assume was some kind of acid dripped from the top, sizzling when it hit the floor. "Yey, acid," She commented dryly. The acid was still dripping, which meant that it was a recent occurrence. Which meant that whoever had burned the hole was most likely still around. Whether they were in the restaurant or not, Lorelei wasn't sure. All she was that they were around. She rested a hand on the spit, more for comfort than anything. If anyone else was here, they had acid. She wasn't altogether sure what she could do against acid, but she refused to go down without a fight. Give them a show, she mentally repeated. That's what she was here to do now. Call her skeptical, but she doubted they had all been chosen by a fluke of chance. This was entertainment disguised as justice. The network needing ratings. They had to be interesting.
