Lucky yawned as he reached the cereal aisle of the little convenience store. He had just finished his shift at Seaside, and he was looking forward to collapsing on his couch to take a much-needed nap. Absently pulling Reese's Puffs into his basket, he checked his watch. It had been twelve hours since he had been home. The convenience store was near empty, as usual, an Lucky felt free to take his time, seeing as the owner, Claude, did not seem overly eager to get up to check out his one customer. Eighties music rang tinnily through the ancient speakers on the ceiling.
Drifting around the store, Lucky let his eyes wander to the shelf of knick-knacks Claude kept for the occasional tourist that came through Blue Hill. He picked out a postcard to send to his parents and straightened his blue scrubs before moving on to the checkout counter to wait for the elderly shop owner to ring him up.
