She wanted to believe him, because there was something in his voice that was telling her he wasnât just playing games with her this time. That he was being honest and real with her for once in his life. He rolled over on his side and she turned her head to look at him. She knew what he was going to do, before he even opened his mouth. He was going to try and talk her out of her clothes, that was what he was best at and even sober, she probably wouldnât be able to say no.
âIf you so sprung off Donnie, why the fuck do you give a shit who Iâm with Tansy?â he said holding her eyes and she couldnât look away, because he really looked hurt and she hated that she still cared. She opened her mouth to speak only he cut her off before she could. âDonât answer that. Because I donât want Kalebâs answer or Candieâs answerâŠI want yours. I at least deserve that donât you think.â He said rolling back over on his back.
She hadnât heard the footsteps because even where they were the music was too loud. "Tansy, you alright?" Donnieâs voice made her heart race because she knew Donnie and Collin in the same room was bad news. She was the girl whoâd come between best friends and she hated herself for that, not that sheâd ever admit it.
Collin stood up next to her and that was her cue to stand up. She wasnât entirely sure if Donnie was high, but she knew Collin was fucked up and either way if she didnât try and stop them before something started, theyâd literally fight until one of them stopped breathing. She stood between the two, Collinâs body and Donnie clenched fists scared the shit out of her.
âWhy the fuck would you assume sheâs not okay?â Collin spat bitterly. âYou know Donnie you have some fucking nerve.â Collin took a threatening step forward.
âCollin enough.â Tansy said quickly getting between them and placing a hand on Collinâs chest, hoping heâd calm down. âDon go, Iâll be right behind you please.â Tansy breathed keeping her eyes on Collin, she highly doubted Donnie would leave her there, but she wasnât sure what else to do. âFights only going to make things worse.â A more intoxicated Tansy would have without a doubt let them fight it out, in fact she wasnât sure sheâd ever been sober around Collin, but all she knew was She couldnât let the two of them fight.
Lauren was right, there group was always chasing Candie and Tansy, they never had much room for anything else. At the same time though he knew full well their fucked up little group would be nothing without the two of them. Sure they were at odds now, somehow though he knew that couldnât last, Tansy and Candie were like magnets they had to have each other. He sighed running his hands through his hair and taking a last drag off his cigarette, before flicking it away.
âIt may not be fair L, but itâs all we know.â He smirked. âThink about it, the world would stop turning if something happened to them.â He shrugged. âTheyâre the ones that keep us on our feet.â He said standing up and offering his hand to Lauren helping her up. âMaybe you should knock Tans down a couple pegs, fuck Donnie tonight.â He smirked. âBoy will do anything if you get him drunk enough.â He said honestly.
He slipped back through the trees then, Lauren by his side and when they got back to the party they split. Candie was right knocking Tansy may not some scene into her, but he doubted it. He made his way through the party looking for Candie, turning girls around hopping that one of the drunk brunettes would be her. He was starting to feel guilty for letting her run off and not going after her. They were in the woods and anything could happen and he was only thinking of the worst possible scenarios.
It wasnât until he started asking around and he got a few promising finger points in one direction and he went with it. He walked for a while lighting a total of four more cigaretteâs as he passed a other couples, a few making out while others were fucking. He figured maybe Candie had decided to go home or even go find Donnie and he was ready to go home himself, before he saw Kaleb and he didnât even have to see who the girl was with him, he knew and his stomach twisted in knots. He didnât exactly think Candie had been entirely faithful, considering that was apparently impossible for any of them to do, but it was a fucking slap to the face that sheâd gone back to Kaleb of all guy and if fucking killed him.
âAre you fucking serious?â he spat loud enough for the both of them to hear. To him it wasnât worth fighting Kaleb as fucked up as he was he was tired of the shit, tired of working his ass off for them to work. He knew he was gone a lot, but it wasnât like he was out fucking around on her.
He started back towards the party, not bothering to say anything else hell he doubted that Candie would even come after him. She was probably too high to realize that heâd even caught her, but he wasnât going to sit there and watch them, nor was he going to fight Kaleb and look like the bad guy. He started coughing violently, having to lean against one of the trees as he spit out a mouth full of blood.
