Jae frowns slightly and shrugs, for while he does enjoy classes at Magdalena, learning in muggle classes does not really engage him nearly as much. It just feels strange to sit in there, knowing himself to be the only one in a group to have magical powers. It makes him feel somewhat uncomfortable, though it really should not. "Abeoji and Eomeoni make me take them, I prefer the classes at Magdalena by a long shot," he confesses, shoulders now pushed forward slightly as they had stopped mid shrug. It gives him an awkward sort of posture, but he doesn't seem to notice at all.
Besides, his full attention is quite immediately grabbed by Eithene knocking over his cup. His hand, by instinct, shoots out, but she reaches it first, avoiding a mess just before it is made. A little sigh of relief, a breath Jae hadn't realize he has been holding, escapes. The clumsiness is not atypical for the girl, but the strangely distracted and dejected way in which she apologizes certainly is. Jae's brow furrows in confusion, and he catches her briefly glancing past him. He finds it difficult not to pick up on such things and become curious, and thus turns his head to try and follow her gaze. His eyes are not fine tuned to the sight of Keelan as Eithene's are, for he does not know her, and thus he cannot see what is grabbing her attention. The ghost girl is just out of sight.
Turning back around, Jae gives her a look half quizzical and half concerned. "It's fine, it was just a glass. Are you alright?" Eithene seems to merely wave off his concern, calling herself clumsy and smiling, quick to push the conversation onwards. But the smile is not quite as genuine as it had seemed before, Jae cannot help but notice. He tries not to frown.
The little scene will likely dwell in his mind for the rest of the day, but for the moment he is willing to push it away. Eithene likely would deny it, given how she has just breezed over it. "I've got studying of my own to do, actually. Don't want to overestimate myself. I'm sure you'll be fine --and I can help you out in Potions, if you need it. It's one of my better subjects," he offers, smiling once more. Eithene is still visibly distracted. It's impossible for Jae to ignore it, of course, but he does at least have the tact to not bring up what she would clearly prefer to hide.
Perhaps he'll find it out later, on his own, but Jae is a very far cry from pushy when it comes to the secrets of others. In fact, the only thing the typically quiet young man can manage to be 'pushy' at is trying to keep friends out of trouble. Most of the time, his advice is ignored and he ends up having to go along with them anyway, in order to minimize the damage.
"How is the bookshop doing, then? Quite well?"
