Kira awoke to the sound of Connerr's voice and blinked against the light filtering down through the ceiling. She heard the other man leave and sat up slowly in bed, wincing against the pain in her ribs, which was now a constant reminder that she was a ticking time bomb. She rubbed her eyes and blinked some more until the figure wagging it's big fluffy tail came into focus.
"Oh."
Jade was excited that Kira recognized her and immediately pounced on her, sending her flying right back down on the make shift bed. Soon the girl was covered in wet slobbery kisses and Kira was laughing with pure joy. She didn't want to question how Jade was alive... honestly she didn't care. The only thing that mattered was that the wolf like dog was back and jittery as ever.
Eventually Jade settled down and lay half between her and Zach, but mostly on top of her. Kira sighed heavily and turned her face towards her dear companion who'd woken up near the beginning of Jade's attack.
"I think Conner took a step out."
She scratched gently behind the dogs ears and in response Jade began thwopping her tail loudly on the floor. It was a good thing sound didn't travel as well in the cold.
