{ Erin Hart }

As her brown eyes fluttered open, the pain in the right side of her neck became evident to Erin. She’d slept strangely last night, with her neck at an awkward angle, resulting in this awkward pain whenever she looked to the left. Rubbing the side of her neck Erin let out a quiet sigh before sitting up. The floor was not an ideal place to sleep she’d learnt that night, even if you tried to use a backpack as a pillow. But, it was better than nothing and she couldn’t forget that at least she was alive and had gotten away from the safe zone when everything went wrong.

However, she did miss the safety and security of it there, she’d even befriended a few people. But everyone in this RV was a stranger to her and part of her questioned why she was so quick to jump on the bandwagon and trust them. ‘Dangerous situations make people do things they don’t understand’ It was almost as if her dad’s words echoed through her head in the moment. She often tried to forget about her dad, to try not to dwell on the fact that she may never see him again. In her mind, she immediately told herself in her head to change the subject.

She sat still for a moment, disorientated, her eyes still heavy from lack of sleep. That night had been one of the worst in terms of the amount of time she spent awake. There was a period of about an hour or so where she just lay on the floor, looking at the ceiling and occasionally tossing and turning. ‘Do RV’s have ceilings?’ She’d asked herself last night. ‘Or is that the roof?’ She’d spent an interesting period of time that night considering whether an RV has a ceiling or a roof before drifting back off to sleep as her mind wondered about different things and places. Of course, soon after that she woke up to check over her things. Making sure that everything she owned was as she left it, that her baseball bat was still within an arm’s reach just in case a sick person got in or if someone in the RV tried anything smart, and that everyone else was still there and alive. It took a long time to go back to sleep after that. Erin wished she could stay asleep solidly for a whole night, it was awful feeling so tired all the time during the day.

The realisation that there were two people missing from the vehicle pulled her from her thoughts about her sleepless night. Who was it…Willow and Shaw? Was it a good or a bad thing that there were people gone? Had they decided to pack up and just leave the group? Or were they just...out? Questions seemed to swamp Erin’s concerned mind. Then, the matter of whether she should wake the rest of the group up popped into mind. They all needed their sleep, it seemed rude to just wake them all up. The two missing could come back any moment now and it’d be a waste of time. But maybe she was thinking too much into it now that she thought about it. She mentally told herself to just calm down, asking herself all these questions wasn't going to give her the answers after all.

She soon decided to just wait for someone else to wake up or wait until the two who disappeared returned. Until then, she settled with wondering what they had gone to do and what to do with herself until someone got up. Erin didn't want to move around though, it was possible that she would accidentally wake someone up. Which would probably lead to someone getting annoyed, but maybe not. But Erin couldn't forget the many possibilities that she may accidentally tick someone off. Erin ended up laying back down, staring upwards, just like she'd done the previous night.
