Selitos observed the island as it passed by. A curious sort of place that had trees that grew from the leaves up into a root system that connected to the earth above it. That was probably only because he was looking at the world upside down as he hung with his knees wrapped around a spar. They had gotten a little drunk last night upon seeing land in the first time for a while, and he couldn't remember if someone had dared him, if it was just for morale, or if he had boasted that he could play the lute and sing upside down better than any of the crew could standing right side up. That was how he now found himself in this predicament.
He briefly strummed a chord and then began his shanty
"Farewell to all the sweet girls of Avenay, I'll miss your sweet presence and wish that I could stay, but the Captain says we go and the First mate roars below and much like the sun this ship shall rise again,
So here's to the lasses that we've kissed and to all the others we're going to miss, Their hair just like wheat and their great big round ............."
He trailed off as he saw Markel, he couldn't be sure but it seemed as though his next words were the subject of some scrutiny for the deck below. This might not be the time and place for this kind of education. So with much struggle and not a few curses Selitos made his way back down to deck level, with a flourish and a bow.
He decided that he wouldn't mind figuring out where exactly they were going. There were two possibly people who might know and he knew where they might be found. He walked along the railing feeling the cool island breeze play along his face. It was hard not to grin at being so close to land, and at one of the colonies too. His status as a member of the Imperial Talon, albeit a rogue one, granted him a certain amount of control and privileged in the Avenesian lands. The lions share of his authority came from the fact that Talon had a fearsome reputation as the long arm of the Emperor himself. The Emperors Watchers were often hand picked from the ranks of the Talon. In theory his authority was near limitless, in practice it extended as far as the favour of the Emperor allowed it. Those high in favour could effectively ignore him if not worse. Anyone lower down the pecking order however walked in fear of his gaze.
"Ah good captain, fair Blue," He said adopting a somewhat foppish manner and making a courtly leg,"I pray I find you in agreeable moods, for it is a most fortuitous day. How goes the navigation?"
