In the Blackbriar household there were very few true moments of peace. In the dead of night, and the early of morning were at the center of those moments. While his weary young brother slept fitfully, Vincent restlessly stayed awake, unwilling to fall asleep while his mind replayed certain events over, and over again. Of course come morning Vincent would awake, bleary eyed and confused - he had fallen asleep unknowingly, and now suffered from aches and pains caused from falling asleep sitting up.
He listened closely for the sound of his brother, but heard nothing. Still asleep probably, though Vincent knows it will only be a matter of time before the boy wakes up. So Vincent goes about his morning duties as quickly as possible, eating a few pieces of stale bread to calm his stomach and changing out of his old ragged clothes into something more suitable to wear into town. By the time he was ready to set out his brother was awake, and already rummaging through the kitchen in search of something to eat.
"Theres bread on the table," Vincent says.
"Its stale." His brother answers, face scrunching up in disgust.
Vincent shrugs his shoulders, "Better than nothing, we can go to the market later."
He grabs his work boots from the floor and puts them on. Not in much of a hurry as he doesn't really have much work today.
"Where are you going?" Nathaniel asks, now stuffing his cheeks with the bread.
"Into town, I've got some business to attend to." Vincent answers, keeping his tone light as to not betray his lie. He moves to his younger brothers side and ruffles his hair, "Don't go getting into any trouble while I'm gone." Once his brother nods his head in understanding Vincent leaves for his trip into town.
