Ryan took Merian's hand. "I'm here. I'm right here," he said, stroking a thumb along her wrist. "I thought I lost you there," he said with a wan smile. He was trying to appear strong but the signs of vulnerability were in the redness of his eyes and the shaky tone of his voice. As she was pulled into the ER, she had briefly flatlined. The thought of her dying had broken his heart. He had lost her too many times. "Merian, baby... I know you may feel a little loopy," he said, kissing her gently on the forehead, "but I'm going to marry you, if you'll have me. I'm not gonna let you go again,"

Peter was stuck in the parking lot. He had tried to pry the steering wheel off but unfortunately the luxury SVU was solid as a rock. Emily appeared, sitting next to him. 'I'm handcuffed," he snapped, "what do you think?" He smacked his fist into the dashboard. He hit it again. Nothing alleviated his frustration. "Is Merian okay?" he said, refusing to look Emily in the eye. He wasn't mad at her exactly but he couldn't get his anger out at Ryan. Emily was the next best thing.
