Water splashed at the window of the tuned BMW E30 as it sped through the Grecian streets. It's passengers sat in a comfortable silence at the familiar roads that lead to the all too familiar school. At this point, neither sibling cared just how late they were to the same lecture, same orientation, and the same material they'd been getting for going on four years now. Most of the knowledge they gained pertaining to things outside the realm of the immortal or supernatural was gained by their own inquiry. However, both looked at each other from time to time, sharing the same look of a slightly uncomfortable sense. This year somehow felt different. They remember how strange their mother acted last time they saw her, as fleeting as she was. There was a sense of urgency to her that had never been there. Everything in the world waited for a goddess and a goddess never hurries, but something seemed to drive her throughout their meaning. Something that was not lost on her two perceptive children, especially Ishard. Ishard perceived the environment and Isolde made the judgement call, that is how it's always been. In this instance, neither felt as if there was anything to perceive or judge and that made them nervous. A problem with no solution in sight was dangerous not only to them but for the people around them. Those problems swiftly turn to trouble.
Ishard thought happily about their summer with their father and family. He could still hear the drums and smell the bon fire. He looked to his sister, lost to her own world as usual and grew almost sad. While they shared so many behaviors, especially their intellect and how they interact with most people from day to day, he was still open to intimacy. He had even had his share of relationships during his time at Aeonis, some he still holds as friendships. To him it felt like his sister would never know peace, or what it felts like to be truly cared for by another person because she was too cold or afraid to be vulnerable. Apart of him wanted to hit her with the logistics. It made no sense in the grand scheme of things to allow something a petty as fear keep you from happiness, but he knew it was futile. Everyone has their own logic and Isolde, could pull logic out of a panicking schizophrenic. He could hear her now, "I'm perfectly happy with the way things are at this very moment. I have no need of the eventual heartbreak that non-familial love will eventually bring. I don't have time to 'find the right person' or to 'date around'. It's never in anyone's best interest to fall in love and I would be throwing out every ounce of self preservation I had to seek such a thing out."
If he could roll his eyes anymore than he already had, he would be learning more about his own anatomy than he ever cared to. Ishard looked over at her in the passenger seat where Nashoba had his head on her shoulder, his large tail constantly [i]thwacking
on the seat and made a slight smile with a mischievous undertone.
"If I don't choke you out of frustration by the end of the year, I will see you at least bat your eyes at someone sister. He continued to smile as he drove, imperceptibly speeding up towards their goal, The Aeonis School.
Isolde absentmindedly stroked the thick and glossy fur of their wolf pet, Nashoba as she stared out the window. His nose nuzzled her chin lightly as she faltered in her duties, deep in thought.
"I'm certain that no matter what events may occur to cause such a feeling, that this will be an interesting year. I should see to what companions I have, especially dear Schae. I regret how much of a rift this summer has kept between us. I wonder if she has any knew reads she would like to show me..."
And as if by design, Isolde's phone indicated she had received a new text message. Contrary to what most would believe, both Isolde and Ishard enjoyed as much technology and advancements they could get their hands on.
[To: Isolde Harkin]
[It's been awhile. Are you and your brother here already? I'd stop by, but that seems a bit stalker-ish. I'll be heading to Orientation soon. You guys should join me. I may not care about social status, but I'd rather not be deemed a "loser" my senior year by sitting alone. I also have some new books for you to look at. Cool stuff - S.C]

Isolde felt the corners of her mouth turn up slightly at her friend's message and made a move to reply,
[To: Schae Caineto
[It has been a while! We are on the road now, but a few minutes away from the school. I'll find you in the hall and you can show me everything I've missed. Until then, Isolde.]

Isolde turned down the radio that was playing rather loudly as they turned into the drive to the school and looked to her brother, who stared out of the windshield in mock concentration. She could practically hear his thoughts as if they were her own by now and he was just as anxious to get to the school as she was, if for a more nefarious purpose than she.
"That was Schae who sent the message. She's already in the hall for orientation. I suppose I'll place my bags in my room and go meet her." She found herself stretching her neck to see the tops of the trees surrounding the school when the school itself broke into view. She was never one for nostalgia, but she could most definitely admire proper architecture. The skillful way the filigree and design was chiseled into the hard white marble. She often found herself lightly caressing the beautiful, cool stone with her had, finding it more relatable than any person could be. Unfortunately, she was broken out of her reverie by the halting of the vehicle in park as well as her brothers voice.
"That sounds fine. I'll do the same with my bags, but I'm going to head to the cafeteria first. I am absolutely famished."
Both nodded to each other and exited the vehicle simultaneously. Isolde found herself simply staring that the school, making failed attempts at predicting what this year will bring. A soothsayer she was not.
Ishard, after unloading their large suitcases and bags, came to stand beside his sister and look up at the school. Even though bother were quite gigantic to most people of average height, he still placed his arm on her shoulder and laid his head on hers just to make her feel smaller. Despite his annoyance, Isolde still felt pleasantly warm next to her brother and didn't make a move to remove him. They both had core body temperatures to rival the dead, much to their childhood pediatrician's dismay, and always made people shiver by simply being around them much less touch them. However all they felt when they were near was a slight and comfortable warmth.
Nashobe nosed his way in between their legs and scanned the area around the school. Their ever vigilant protector. When he saw no threat, he stretched his tall neck into the air and howled the moon now hidden by the haze of morning. Both twins smiled and patted his large head before they hugged and eventually grabbed their bags and parted ways to their perspective dormitories.
Ishard was the first to reach his, he saw no sign of his long time roommate, Lachlan, but that wasn't unusual, as most of the students were more than likely out an about catching up with friends they hadn't seen over the summer. He decided to unpack later and left his many bags to sit on his bed until he had the time to unpack them properly. He wasted no time in heading out the door and walking to the cafeteria. As he neared, he saw a familiar face about to enter.
"Hello Scott! It's been a long time how have you been?"
Ishard smiled warmly, but kept his distance physically, knowing full well that most people didn't much care for the chills his nearness could bring. He opened the door with his left hand, holding it open so that both men could walk in.
Isolde could find no sign of her roommate either, except for her own bags. Nashoba had chosen to walk with her, feeling quite full himself having eaten on the trip up. Isolde has never had an appetite to speak of, but eats in healthy intervals to keep up her strength despite how her stomach feels on the matter. She too left her bags in her room, her mind torn between unpacking and leaving to other duties and leaving won. She quickly brushed her black, wavy hair and tossed it over her shoulder as he exited the room, her faithful companion at her heels with his warm breath on her bare legs. Neither twin cared much for layered clothing since they became hot so easily and the cold never effected them.
It was a quick trip before she was standing in front of the hall and walking through the rather impressive and ornate auditorium. She saw Schae sitting somewhat in the middle with her nose in a book and she smiled. It would be strange if she found her in any other state. Nashoba took off first, bounding down the walkway to run up to Schae, licking her cheek with large, sloppy wolf kisses.
"Nashoba! Kotoba!"(heel) Despite the authority in her voice, should couldn't help but smirk at his almost affronted expression at being scolded. She walked quickly up to Schae and rubbed her hands together in a futile attempt to warm them before embracing her slightly and sitting down.
" Schae! So good to see you! A Summer is too long for us not to speak. You must tell me everything."
