When the car pulled to a halt in front of Adam's apartment building, Connor followed Sienna inside. He nodded when she thought aloud of how she hoped he answered. At this point, Connor was hoping the same thing. Adam had surely realized by now that he had sent that strange and personal text to Sienna, rather than his parents, who seemed to be the intended recipients. He was probably embarrassed or at least unwilling to explain whatever the problem he was referring to was, and it wasn't like Adam was a social butterfly anyway. If anything, he seemed more like a social recluse. He would disappear from school for days at a time and only occasionally accepted Connor's invitations to come to parties or school events. Adam definitely didn't seem like someone who was going to want to open up about a personal issue that seemed to be bothering him a lot. "Should I t--" Connor had started to offer to text Adam and say they were there, but was cut short as a bang behind the door caught both of their attention.

Sienna thrust the door open without even knocking and the scene unfolding in the apartment was something that Connor never would have expected. Adam was being held down as a needle was forced into his neck. It seemed like something out of a movie and for a moment, Connor thought it was a dream. It was a good thing that Hailey had stepped in front of Adam, because Connor probably was lighthearted when it came to needles. A simple flu shot had him feeling sick, and seeing a good friend being stabbed in the neck with a sedative was bad enough to make anyone sick. His expression was probably just as horrified as Sienna's, but he didn't shout like she did upon seeing the doctors on Adam. He had thrust out a hand in front of her instinctively. It was clear after a few moments that no one was going to hurt them, but he also didn't want the emotional girl beside him to try to intervene to help Adam.

Hailey began to speak again, and Connor was pretty sure that he remembered her as one of the family's housekeepers. What she said, startled him as much as the physical scene did. Adam had paranoid schizophrenia. Connor was no psychologist, but he knew that that was serious. He could have pinned Adam as being depressed or anxious, because those also would have explained his tendency to isolate himself, but schizophrenia is something that he never would have suspected. Now it made sense, because when he did see Adam, it was probably only when he was being medicated and his illness was controlled. Still, this was big news to receive about a friend and the idea of being friends with someone who was so sick was a little bit unsettling.

The doctors had lifted Adam into a wheelchair now and were rolling him out of the apartment. Connor could only bare to look at Adam, who seemed limp and unconscious, for a second before it made him feel sick to his stomach. He had seemed extremely aggressive and sedating him was probably safer for everyone, including Adam, but it reminded Connor of the treatment of a feral animal. He glanced over at Sienna with a look containing emotions of horror, confusion and sadness, before returning his gaze to Hailey, who was speaking again. Connor didn't know if he even wanted to visit Adam in the hospital. They certainly were friends and Connor knew that he needed support, but the Adam that he had just seen, who was close to attacking the doctors, was not the Adam he was friends with. This was all so much at once, and all Connor could do was nod his head as Hailey asked if they could help her gather some things for Adam's stay. "Uh... yeah, I guess so," he responded, looking at Sienna once again before stepping past Hailey and slowly heading down the hall. He was surprised with even himself for remembering where Adam's room was in the apartment. It had to have been six months or so since he had last been there, and even then it was just a brief visit to help Adam catch up on some school work he had missed. "I guess that text makes sense now," Connor said, his voice a near whisper. They were far enough from Hailey that she probably couldn't hear them but Connor was still in enough shock that he could only get out a hiss.
