It was about the time for sunset in Tokyo. It was a warm evening. Even at these hours there were many people in the streets. The bustle was visible from Hiyoko's apartment window. She had just gotten up and was about to get ready when the phone began to ring. It was Toshi, another of her kind. "Yeah, hello?" Hiyoko said as she picked up the phone.

"Yeah, it's me. We got news of vampire hunters in the city. Avoid any conflict when you are outside. If we aren't suspicious they will not come for us. They are probably not even aware that we exist. They are only out to get the other vampires." Toshi said.

"I am quite aware of that. Even if they become aware of our existence, silver bullets, garlic and crosses aren't really going to do much harm. Remember we are here to make Tokyo our home and not to gnaw on the bones of vampires or humans. We had to get rid of Gen because he caused too much attention after that incident." Hiyoko said.

Ah, yes! The incident! The body of a human left torn apart in an alley. The police suspected either wild dogs or a ruthless slasher, but expected wild dogs more because of the bite marks. Luckily Gen is no more. It was his own fault for refusing blood just because of it's type. The blood supply was small and no one is allowed to be picky about it.

"I will meet you in the lobby when you are ready. I got my hands on rare and delicious blood." Toshi said and hung up.

Hiyoko then went to get ready. After a shower and brushing and flossing her sharp teeth, she got dressed. A t-shirt of her favorite animated show, black cargo pants, a black hoodie, a black tattoo choker, her purple teardrop pendant necklace and sneakers. She appeared more like a NEET than a teacher or a vampire of wealth. She left her apartment and went downstairs to meet Toshi. The building was owned by their kind and all apartments in the nine story building were inhabited by vampires.

In the well furnished lobby of the building, Toshi was waiting by the small bar. He was a tall man of athletic build, scrawny compared to other men of their kind. While the other men often looked like bodybuilders, yakuza thugs or bouncers, he was more like a fitness trainer who would be swarmed by women.

Toshi held up a transparent plastic container and said: "This is it. 0+ blood. Rare but is supposed to be delicious if from a health donor. I would like to share it with you." "Why that is very generous of you Toshi!" Hiyoko said. The buff bartender filled two wine glasses with the blood and served them to the two. "Why don't we spare him a bit as a thanks for his services?" Hiyoko said. Toshi nodded and said: "Here, take the rest and make yourself a glass." A smile grew on the bartender's face and he thanked them. After a toast, the three drank the blood. "Very delicious." The bartender said. Hiyoko then replied: "I agree. A bit high in iron though. Well I am off. I will see you tomorrow morning. Gotta get something to eat and maybe help somebody along the way. Toshi, do you want to go to the karaoke bar later?" "Sorry, I am busy today. I should have time tomorrow though." Toshi replied.

Hiyoko then left. She first stopped at the convenience store to buy a curry bun and then went into a nearby bar to have a beer. "One beer please." Hiyoko requested from the bartender.
