A faint smile curled her lips as Nemu addressed her and she couldn’t help but tilt her head slightly as she conceded the point for a moment. However before she was able to think of a suitable replshoy the floor was taken by the group of magical creatures who had first piqued her interest when she first entered; with the faeries placing themselves as the noble choice as a neutral third party. The scathing manner in which they announced such to Nemu seemed a little uncalled for; even given her nature though her own tone towards herself and another within the hall were no less so. While she knew they would make respectable allies there was something deep within her veins which bred distrust of the envoys of Anansai, though she could not fully explain it for they seemed to exemplify purity in all its forms. Perhaps it was simply distrust of something so pristine on the principle that it’s hiding something. Sipping her wine slowly she almost missed the rather disgruntled comment from their host, who from his tone did not like the concept of his suggestion being thrown aside so readily.
”Where are my manners, of course. I am Lady Fionnaghal Pynchon, High Sage of Kythiania, here as representative of my lands, and her interests here following our age long absence from world affairs.”
As she spoke her name her voice took on a thicker accent than previously which persisted through the rest of her words before fading as she paused for breath.
”Now before your minds run rampant with whatever old wives tales that you heard when you were young, let me assure you that whatever mysteries that have been woven of my land they are equally likely to be fact as they are to be fiction. And unlike the Wasteland of Nemu our monsters are kept under control rather than left to roam free.”
She smiled to all in attendance and chuckled jovially to herself before taking another small sip of her wine. She looked across at the guards stationed around the room and something she’d noticed earlier came back to nag at her.
”Also Arkaelus given that your guards seem to be well trained if your general is anything by which to measure them I am rather perplexed by what can only be described as a lack of discipline given that upon my sudden appearance in their midst, especially within such close proximity to yourself, they did not once think to question such an arrival.”
Lifting her free hand in mock surrender she shook her head for a moment.
”Just like to make clear that I’m not wanting them to suddenly decide to rectify that lapse.”
Bowing her head to Arkaelus once more she reclined in her seat and withdrew from the conversation a little to await any response. Her gaze settled on a figure on the far side of the room, past that of those of Anansai where one of a trio stood apart. His attention had flickered to her a few times, both prior to her appearance and since. She’d be the first to admit she hadn’t really paid much attention to the all inhabitants of the room save for those who actively projected their magical aura beyond that of their natural presence. A trait she found a little cliché given that it was usually done to awe others or assert their own standing over others who were sensitive to such. She smiled a little to herself and decided to learn more about this perceptive man.
Fiona’s staff had ceased eyeing up all the members in the chamber and had instead simply begun to focus on Nemu alone while her attention was elsewhere, though this fact was mostly unnoticed by all present; after all it never moved and its expression could only be described as wooden.
