Edwin nodded and began walking to the dining room. Edwin walked with Alice, having his own thoughts race through his mind. 'Lately The King has been much more persistent about Alice's marriage options. I heard him say that Alice is almost completely ready to get married.' Edwin sighed to himself. All Edwin wanted was for Alice to be happy, and he knew that having her husband chose for her was not what she'd want.
Edwin has known Alice most of her life and he knew what type of person she was. Although he knew the heart can change, he figured she still wanted to marry for love. That was what she told him when they were younger anyway. 'Hmm..The Kings having a upcoming ball. He says it's just a party, but I know it's to introduce Alice to all sorts of princes and nobles.' Edwin walked.
'What would I do if Alice fell in love and got married?' Edwin thought, mentally panicking.
'I'd have to resign,...there's no way that I could be around her when she's in love with someon- Whoa, Why would that bother me....?' Edwin thought, catching himself thinking selfishly again. Edwin just shook his head, trying not to think about it.
Although his mind was going, he was still aware, especially when Alice, who appeared to be spaced out, tripped on the last step of the stair case. "Princess!" Edwin called as he quickly caught her. Alice's head was pressed to Edwins chest as he had his arms wrapped around her. "Please,...be more careful." He smiled and sighed.
