Kasumi shielded her eyes from the bright headlights breaking through the darkness and blinked a few times as she saw the zombies walking towards them along the track. She glanced to Anders as he offered her the honors of starting the big lug of iron and put her hand on it, pushing down with her hand. She tilted her head as the bar wouldn't budge and tried to push it down a few more times before finally putting her full body's weight behind it. The lever fell to the halfway point and she glanced around as a terrible creaking sound echoed through the empty cabins.
"Ah... the lever was rusted." She glanced away, embarrassed by her lack of strength. Sure, she was extremely agile, but she had no strength whatsoever. She turned her eyes to the zombies as the train lurched forward and began making its way slowly towards them. They clawed at the train as it pushed uneventfully past them and Kasumi sighed.
"That was... disappointing..." She mumbled. She picked up er spear and shoved half of her body out an open window, slashing the zombies heads off with her spear. She turned back to Anders with a smile.
"We're such a great team, right?" She smirked.
Kasumi settled into one of the seats as she watched the train move through the underground tunnel. She glanced at the makeshift beds created from trash and torn blankets, splattered with blood all along the tunnel floors and shook her head. The people never had a chance of survival in such an open place, even if it was underground, there were still pipes and air vents from the sky above. She turned her eyes to the actual walls themselves as graffiti began appearing along the walls.
"Turn back."
"No sanctuary."
"We're dead."
Kasumi stared quietly at the last phrase of writing on the wall.
"Pola, go to the tallest building."
She sighed heavily and decided to keep her eyes to the floor of the train. She remembered the empty hole in her heart when she was looking for her friends, and felt sad that, most likely, everyone in the city was looking for someone. The world had become so depressing.
"Do you ever miss your family?" She asked.
