Zeek grinned.

The boats weren't glass, nor plastic, nor anything found on most other planets. They were a special form of plasma produced by the rell. Able to be manipulated, but still holding their structure when not. All it took was the right crystal programmed with the right frequency to open one up. Inside there were round, comfortable looking basket chairs. One might note there were no seat belts, or any sort of security measure. Just comfortable chairs! In the center was a very slim column of the same plasma material, connecting the top of the bubble to the bottom-oddly invisible from some angles.

"It is simple," explained Zeek, pulling from the inside of his shirt a necklace with a few very small crystals. He picked out a perfectly clear one, detached it from the cluster on his necklace, and approached one of the boats. Turning to his new friend Lance he said, "Watch this!"

Zeek pushed the crystal into the bubble. It gently puckered and took the crystal into it's mass, a moment later melting itself away, revealing an opening for the two to climb through. Zeek wasted no time. He moved to the center of the boat, to the column, and stuck the crystal into that. It absorbed the crystal, and then the thing began to glow.

"Eh?" He turned Lance and grinned, wondering if the dimensional traveler had ever seen anything like it.
