Getting changed into his swimming trunk, Makoto joined his friends at the pool outside the gym. Chitose, Hinata and their classmates were told to run some laps to warm up before jumping into the pool. Makoto was about to catch up with them, before Yuzuki hold him back by his arm. And this time, he was surprised by the sudden change in the atmosphere.
It seemed like Yuzuki had just shown him a totally different side of her. And it looks like any kindness she'd shown towards him, or everyone else, was nothing more than a facade. Her words were full of nothing but annoyance and jealousy, and as sensitive as he was, Makoto felt his heart stung. But her question really had got Makoto thinking back about all the time he'd spent together,
After breaking up with his boyfriend, all he felt was nothingness. He had been living in a cage he set up for himself for almost three months. But then Hinata appeared in his life. He approached him with such forwardness that he was taken-aback. It was a little disturbing at first, but soon, he realized that his heart has begun to lighten, just by the mere presence of the other boy. Whenever Makoto was lonely, Hinata was there. He had always taken care of him, made him forgotten everything.
And of course, it's only a matter of time before the feeling of reciprocation appear in his heart.
"Hina-kun has always been there for me." He said as he looked up straight to Yuzuki, "So... yes. He's the one I'm always thinking of."
"Well then, I will make sure that you'll stay away from him. Goodnight, Ma-ko-to-kun." She said with such coldness that make him almost quiver, and before he knew it, he was pushed into the 2.5 meter deep pool. When he could realized what was happening, it was too late. His back made contact with the water surface and he began to sink.
Haunted memories of an accident that he'd never forget pour back into his mind, making him struggling to get off, but it feels as if the water keep shoving him down further as he stroking his arms and legs. Soon enough, blackness began to cloud his vision as he felt the last of his breath stripped away from his lungs.
Makoto was sure that he's lost his consciousness for good, it was cold and lonely. But the familiar warm of someone appeared out of nowhere, pulling him out from the coldness of the water. And, he could felt something warm, yet sweet, blowing life back into his body. And fortunately, Makoto had managed to wake up.
Coughing out water, he slowly opened his eyes to the voice of someone calling his name desperately. He saw that Chitose, his classmates and the coach were surrounding him, they all sighed in relief to see that he was okay. And next to him was no one other than Hinata, who looked as if he was about to cry.
