"How long were you watching me for?"
"Long enough to admire your form... And to see that you rival our new king. It's best you don't tell him I said that. I wouldn't want to wound his ego," Lelinus told her with a grin. She made it all look so effortless. He knew he'd never be able to wield a blade anywhere approaching "well", but he could recognize talent when he saw it.
"I actually prefer the bow. My father used to say it was the thinking man's weapon. A man could defend his city without opening the gate," he told her. His thoughts drifted to his father. It wasn't right. He hadn't been in ill health and he had wanted to talk to him in the morning. Him and Brynjar both. It was important. He knew it was. But he couldn't grasp what he would have had to say. Putting that puzzle out of mind for now, he turned look at his wife.
"He was as wise as he was strong. He didn't arrange my marriage poorly."
