Ashley waited patiently, a small smirk on her face, for Scavenger to taste the bitter substance. She was subtely trying to encourage to try the coffee. Though she has known Scavenger for a while, she did not know much about her. And though her uncle and cousins were Wraithâs she knew nothing about them. She has never actually seen any of them eat, but at the same time she hasnât exactly spent time with any of them. So she was unsure if the pink haired girl was even capable of digesting any of the food. The skeptical look on Scavengerâs face, put doubt in Ashleyâs mind that food was something she was familiar with. The first sip was taken and it was clear that it was a horrible decision. "Nope, I don't like that," For a moment, Ashley believed that Scavenger was going to attempt to make it taste better, but she made no movements towards the cream and sugar. "Forgive me..." The dragoness arched her eyebrow, confused by the apology. It was not Scavengerâs fault that she could not drink coffee or eat. "I guess the gods were right to make me a Wraith," Ashleyâs smirk fell into a small frown. Scavenger was avoiding making eye contact and for the first time in a long time, the dark skinned beauty felt bad for even putting her in a position that she was uncomfortable with. "The heat... It's too much for me." Ashley took a mental note of that.
While the silence lingered between them, Ashley tried to think of something to say to perk Scavenger up. She wasnât supposed to be upset or moody. She was the jokester who always had a playful smirk on her face. Ashley felt even worse now since she was the cause of Scavengerâs saddness. Hesitantly, Ashley reached out for one of Scavengerâs hands. She knew people did this for comfort and that was what she was trying to accomplish. âHey. Donât beat yourself up for it.â She stated, the smirk returning to her face. âAt least you know what coffee taste like.â Ashley was trying to lighten the mood again. It was becoming too emotional for her. The waitress walked by with the two plates of food, forcing Ashley to pull back her hands.
Even after all of the emotional conversation, Ashley was starving. But she was afraid to eat, in fear Scavenger would feel weird or upset about her ability not to eat. The waitress disappeared once again and Ashley did not make any effort to start eating. âYou donât have to eat anything.â She took hold of her coffee cup once more. âItâs enough that you are even sitting in here with me.â She reassured the wraith. The last thing, she wants is for Scavenger to feel obligated to eat the food. If anything, Ashley will just pack it up and eat it for dinner. The fact that Alexanderâs star pupil ditched gossip duty to join Ashley for breakfast was more than enough for the dragoness. Eating was not on the list of requirements to hang out with Ash.
