Adriel didn't want to worry her, but the affects of her attack took something from him. He felt weak, weaker than he ever has. It happened a lot with Amariah, like she was draining the demonic power he claimed. Heavenly fire could obliterate demons quite easily, and he was lucky to be alive. Adriel wouldn't tell her any of it. He wouldn't tell her of the blindness he felt after her attack, or the burning he felt along his back. No, all he did was kiss her, deeply. The usual demon fire he felt within him was exhausted.
Adriel couldn't help but let his weakened body fall against Amariah; he was barely able to keep his eyes open. "See? I... keep you safe... protect you..."
