Charlie

Trying not to hurt Eve, Charlie gingerly palpated the younger girl's head. By now her face had rested on emotionless trying not to give anything away to the creepy men in the van. Her eyes refocused only when Eve's eyes started fluttering open. Thank God. Eve bolted upright, startling her for a moment before the younger girl fell back and covered her face with her hands. Before passing out again, Charlie read the expression on Eve's face. They would escape, the pack would come for them. She has a concussion and is fading in and out. It is worse than I thought... Although having plenty of experience with injury, including concussions, she was still at a loss of what to do. She wasn't a medical student. Granted she knew a lot about the human body, but that meant nothing in the face of real danger other than the occasion cut, bruise, and broken limb.

The van lurched forward, causing Charlie to brace herself over Eve. Although she didn't really know the girl well, it was still instinctual to protect her. Sliding her arm under Eve's shoulders, she cradled the girl in her arms to prevent her from sliding around. Charlie did her best to ground herself against the sharp turns and stops they experienced during the ride. Every time Eve woke up, Charlie tried to get the girl to talk. What day was it? What is her name? What is she majoring in college? Information she should know to judge how bad the concussion was. Every time Eve woke up, a part of Charlie sighed in relief. No coma yet or hopefully ever.

Doing her best while keeping Eve from being thrown all over the place, Charlie tried to map out their route in her head but found it nearly impossible to do so. Too many twists and turns, I no longer know where we have gone. Finally after minutes or hours, the van lurched to a stop. Charlie looked down feeling Eve stir awake for good this time. When the back of the van was thrown open, Charlie turned her emotionless face towards it; squinting due to the sudden bright light. Her facade broke only for a second when the two men with them grabbed her arms and forced her out. She bucked not wanting to be parted from Eve but quickly subdued when the kidnappers grabbed hold of Eve's ankles and yanked her out. The men snickered as Eve hit the floor making Charlie's blood boil. Relax, watch. Get angry and panic later it will do no good now. Take in weaknesses, secrets. Who is willing to betray who? Who are the weakest link in group? Charlie's amber eyes slowly scanned the immediate group. She read body language... Who has a limp? Who shifts? What are they babying? Who hates who? Which one is the leader? Who is loyal to another? Who was willing to betray?

As Eve verbally sparred with the crueler of the kidnappers, Charlie kept ears on them while mapping out the group. Although human, she refused to be a damsel. If push came to shove, she would find a way to get out. They didn't know how far away the pack was and if anyone was aware they were gone. She bit her lip trying not to think of any of her pack mates being casualties in the bar fight. Banishing that train of thought she was brought back to the present when she was shoved to move. She only had a second to think before Eve grabbed hold of her for support. Tensing her arm, she let the girl use her as an aid. Keeping her close and safer rather than being alone. Of course Eve was a strong independent woman who liked to challenge others and thus straightened up and opened her mouth. "You're going to die today," she said softly, her voice dark and deep. Charlie wanted to facepalm her face, but resisted and watched. The men burst into laughter, amused at the young girl's words.

Before either of them could respond, the crueler man grabbed a fist full of purple hair trying to dominate Eve Eve, please don't! Charlie begged in her head. Eve... She sighed as the girl broke the man's wrist. Her actions of course lead to him howling in pain and hitting Eve in the stomach. Unconsciously Charlie tried to dart forward but the guard holding her snapped her back, preventing her from going to her pack mate.

"I dare you to try that again, you little bitch," he snarled, spit lining his lips in his anger. Charlie watched as Eve merely looked at him in defiance and smirked before spitting in the man's face. This is not going to end well. She is to eager to fight them. Worry squirmed inside Charlie knowing full well that she could do very little to help Eve. Charlie wasn't a fighter, she fought long battles psychologically not physically. I am sorry Eve that I can do nothing. She watched as the man punch Eve and send her stumbling into the side of the van. "I can't wait to watch them rip your throats out," Eve said quietly, her voice holding an eerie promise. "I'm going to enjoy watching them slowly tear you apart limb by limb, organ by organ, until no one can tell what belongs to who." Charlie stared at the young girl with a hidden mix of horror and respect. By nature Charlie wasn't one to like fighting or cause blood to go all over the place. However, she also adored nature where families and packs protected their own which resulted at times in blood. If the kidnappers were stupid enough to not only take them but also abuse them, more specifically Eve the daughter of their Alphas, well Charlie couldn't help but feel a little glee at the prospect of the man bleeding profusely. She didn't need to mark him, Eve's blood already told everyone in their pack that he had something to do with Eve being harmed. You sir are screwed. May God have mercy on your soul because we will not.

"That's enough outta you, you little bitch," one of the followers snarled, grabbing Eve's arm and yanking, leaving a bruise the size of his hand. Charlie was then pushed towards an unknown location and only stopped when the two girl's were literally thrown into a room with a heavy metal door and locks. The door banged shut as Charlie tumbled and rolled. It took her a moment to get up leaving the room completely silent. She did a mental catalog of herself. Face? Hurts from being back handed but otherwise fine. Neck? Sore but okay. Torso? Bruised, but okay. Arms? Fine. Hands? Fine aside from where I cut it earlier. Still bleeding though and painful. Hips? Fine. Legs? Sore and bruised but fine. She turned her head to look at Eve who was currently bandaging herself with parts of her clothes.

Getting up, Charlie patted herself down. No phone, wallet, or mace. The men had taken it earlier right before throwing her into the van. "Are you okay? Did they hurt you?" Eve asked, bring Charlie back to the basement. "You shouldn't be afraid, Charlie. I won't let them hurt you, I promise. And they're going to come for us," she said, a small smile on her face. Turning her head, she looked out of the tiny slit of a window that was the only thing allowing outside light into the dark room. "And then blood will be shed." Not saying a word, Charlie walked over to the window. It was too small for either of the girls to escape from, but it could be of some use. Taking off her long knitted vest, she put it between her teeth and then let her hands feel the wall. It wasn't a finished room by any means. The stones jutted out and were uneven. The small ledge wasn't too far away that even with her short stature, Charlie could reach it. Bending at the knees, she jumped and latched on the the ledge. Her fingers slipped s few centimeters, but held before she could drop. Ash she used her fingers to pull herself up a bit, her feet found purchase of two slightly protruding stones. She took a second to ensure she wasn't going to slip and fall.

Once safely holding the ledge, Charlie used all of her strength in her left arm to stabilize her while her right hand balled up her vest and punched through the window. Please don't hear that. Wasting no time, she shook the vest off and thrusted her hand outside smearing blood on the wall and around the window. After she withdrew her hand she dropped to the ground panting. Walking back over to Eve, she knelt before the girl. Very softly she said, "I am not in favor of us trying to take everyone on. We will not win, however to protect ourselves I believe we need to be ready to defend. If you can fight, I can tell you where to hit or who to play against each other. For example, the man that hit you has a weak left knee. I think he has had ACL surgery."
