He stopped humming as she started to speak, listening with quiet rapt attention. Daley, Mr. Daley was the mans name. He'd basically been a father to the young Robyn. All the while his hands kept up with the rhythmic rubbing. She chuckled and it trailed off as she turned to him. ."Cole, Why does it have to hurt? I've known he was gone for years, but now that I'm not angry anymore, now that I know he loved me, that he didn't want to leave me, and was doing what he thought was best, I should feel good, right? Why does this hurt more then it did before?" Tears starting to make their way down her cheek.

He slid his arms around her shoulders and held her close to him, resting his cheek against hers. "The place you held for him you had shut away, filled it up with what you thought he had done. Now, that place has been opened back up, the anger and hate has been washed away. Its like you've lost him all over again." His voice conveyed the feeling of experience. He had gone through this himself. "I held hate in my heart for so long against my father that I was blind to the real issue, his alcoholism. It wasn't until I was drowning myself in it that I realized that he had near no control anymore, that who he had been had been shoved aside and suppressed by his addiction. It tore open that place in my heart and allowed me to truly grieve his loss, to grieve who he could have been, who WE could have been."

He gently tightened his arms around her, holding her in his warm embrace. "The pain fades, and all that will remain are the memories of him. And that way he'll never truly be gone from this world, he lives in you," he said placing a hand gently over her heart.
