Brynjar managed a short laugh as Tyr suggested Ingrid make the request instead of him. "From what I have come to understand of Lady Elska, I doubt anyone would have the power to push her into something she didn't want to do." Brynjar had sensed the quiet strength within Elska even though she resembled a frightened little rabbit when she had been sitting next to him. "I can understand your wish to allow Ingrid to make the request, but I would feel a little bit dishonest to have another do the work for me." His tone was amiable though the grin on his face held something dangerous behind it.
"It would be a great honor to extend the invitation to her myself. It is my hope to get to know her, and while I'm sure her company would help ease Ingrid into my court, I feel I should be the one to express this wish." Brynjar was greatly enjoying pushing Tyr's buttons. He wanted to keep Tyr here, and using Elska to get to him would prove to be entertaining.
"And aside from my wish, I think it would be beneficial for her entrance into my court to have them understand she is the king's guest." He narrowed his eyes as he glanced to Lelinus; the sickly weasel that seemed to always get in the way. "She would garner more respect as my personal guest rather than Ingrid who has yet to get a foothold among my courtiers." Lelinus wouldn't be able to refute this fact.
Elska was feeling more and more troubled. She had once heard a saying "keep your enemies close" and hadn't quite understood it until now. Ingrid mentioned men and weakness. Was that why Brynjar was content to keep Tyr around? Was his goal to find his weakness so he could then turn it on Tyr and make him suffer?
That thought chilled her blood and for a moment she felt faint. The longer Tyr stayed, the worse things would get.
